Match Reports
Sunday 27th September 2009
U15A v Scot Youth A (W) 8-1

Terry made it clear at the beginning of the match that if we wanted success this season then we had to beat the likes of teams like Scot Youth who have proved a bit of a nemesis in recent years.

They have a number of good players and we identified the areas that needed watching.

As like many games for the first 20 minutes or so we were finding our feet and although we had a number of chances none were really clear cut. However we started to get into our stride and scored first but relaxed too quickly and let them in to level the match at 1 – 1.

The players responded well and scored 2 more goals before half time which could easily have seen us 7 – 1 up rather than 3 – 1 as we were so dominant towards the end of the first half.

At half time we kept the same team shape and this paid off as soon after the second half had started we scored again making it 4 – 1.

Soon after we scored twice more in quick succession making the game 6 – 1 to the Wanderers and with 20 minutes to go we made the score 7 – 1. At this point the players started to tie things up and players became much more defensive to keep the lead. A mix up in defence nearly let Scot Youth in but good back cover and some dogged determination cleared the ball away from an almost certain goal.

Scot Youth now had some injuries which led to their goalie being subbed and one of their players sustaining an injury which left them with 10 players on the pitch. We scored again making the final score 8 – 1 which was a fantastic result, well done boys.

Man of the Match – The Whole Team
Sunday 13th September 2009
U15A v Olney Town Colts Spitfires (W) 4 - 0

This was one of those matches that saw us not firing on all cylinders but doing enough to win comfortably 4 – 0. Well done. However, although we won and didn’t work too hard that performance must be accepted as below par and we must up our game on the 27th September against Scot Youth if we want anything from the game. You all know that is true.

As we had only 11 players there is no criticism of the players available just that we need to keep working hard in training and on the pitch to get to where we would all like to be at the end of the season.

The win against Olney has given us 6 points and puts us currently at the top of the table. Well done.

We still have a lot to learn and need to improve by not making silly mistakes but as the season progresses that will come.

Thanks to those that played and for the support of the parents.

Roll on the next game.
