| NBDFL Senior Team - 2011-12 Season |
Tuesday 23rd August 2011
Game 3 had us travel to Southcott Village in Leighton Buzzard a 6.15 KO made the time very tight for any solid pre-match prep, and with a shortage of players due the time and absences on holidays it appeared to be a game we could lose, Southcott winning two games and looking well placed in the league all be it early days. Team debut for new player Lee was a debut to remember the game had only been going for 90 seconds when the ball fell to Lee on the edge of the box and quick control off his thigh saw him volley the ball into the goal what a start. Both teams looked hungry for the game and we played some very good controlling football, our midfield owned the territory and controlled the game all the way through the first half, three at the back saw Jamo, Ronnie and Deebs look masterful in everything they threw at us, Ronnie having a superb game giving an attacking option when required out wide, whilst the games was evenly contented it was clear that our ability to control the game had them reverting to long ball passes and trying to latch into to any poor passes from us which were few and far between.
Second goal came form some good build up play and Deano being fouled in the box, this time he put it away, at half time we looked solid and it was very much keep doing the same stuff and play then off the park probing runs from Matt and Mitch caused them problems all through the second half, and with Mitch wearing a Terry Butcher replica head dress from an earlier challenge the two of them worked hard to open up their defence once more, Matt receiving the ball and making a run down the left and taking on the right back turning him inside out and driving the ball hard from an acute angle into the net 3.0 and a few minutes left to see out Southcott had no intention of rolling over and proved to be good opponents physical and tough in many aspects. From our side it was a good all round team performance where we played good creative football against a good opposition. Nest Game Sat 27th Yardley Gobion away. |
Tuesday 16th August 2011 Vs Loughton Manor
Tuesday 16th saw Wanderers newly promoted north bucks premier league team take on their first league game against Loughton Manor at Kent’s Hill, neither team looked great in the first few minutes and there were many mistakes and miss placed passes during the opening minutes, Wanderers seemed dazed by the first opening goal by the opponents and never really got their act together letting in two more goals coming in at half time three down. Second half was to prove a different game with Wanderers back to there confident and creative selves, what appeared to be one way traffic in second half saw three very well worked goals coming from Deano and Matty x2, to bring some respect back to the game in what could have been our first three points at this level. This however was to wait until the Saturday 20th where Wanderers found them selves up against last season league winners Brackley Sport, a true test as we were to line up with key players unavailable through injury and holidays still having an affect.
The opening quarter saw good possession from Wanderers allowing them to build the play, from this testing the BS goalie early in the game, Matty was active up front with both Jordan and Deano providing good attacking support, it wasn’t long before we found the back of the net from Mitchell Young and took the lead, this had a settling affect on the team and enabled us to maintain the high tempo in our game and give BS little time on the ball, our age and pace n the squad would prove to be too much for them, that said they showed signs of their championship character and threatened on a number of occasions, forcing their way back into the game when ever possible, gaining a free kick just out side the box from one of the probing moves they curled in a ball that was poorly dealt with glancing off Jamo’s head into his own goal. Wanderers character started to show through, from that point we looked more secure at the back with Jamo and Stuart Deeble starting to look comfortable and controlling, with that in place our forwards and wide players run them ragged youth and pace was the issue for them, our probing play reaping our second goal from Steve Deen, a relief after having a pen saved in the first half, BS maintained the way they were playing but our mid field negated a lot of the movement Matt Cully working tirelessly in the heart of mid field with Steve Deen, Both Sean and Marlon pressing forward from left and right back areas to force the play and attack, our precise passing and inter play led to another foul 30 yards from goal, with the dipping sun Jamo stepped up to rifle one at goal an initial block saw the ball return to kick taker and he drove a 25 yd shot to the top corner of the net, first team appearances from young Trev saw him use his pace and cause more problems for the full backs, a good solid performance from the squad against quality opponents which made the 3 – 1 win more rewarding, next match away to Soutcott Tuesday 23rd Aug chance to make another three points. |
