MK Wanderers 2 Aston Clinton 6
MK Wanderers entertained Aston Clinton in the League Cup Semi Final at Kents Hill.
Wanderers started the game brightly and it was long before Jordan Nash found himself 1 on 1 only for the keeper to save well. MK maintained their pressure but conceeded against the run of play when a well taken corner was met by a free header and then poked over the line.
Wanderers then showed great character and bounced back soon after when a handball decision gave Wanderers the opportunity from 12 yards. Sam Parrish converting his second penalty in 2 games.
MKW were now hungry for more and after a Dean Torto header that rebounded against the crossbar, Matthew Old was on hand to follow up and put his side in front. As the half came to a close Aston Clinton found themselves with a great opportunity to equalise and did taking the game level at half time.
After what was an incredibly hard fought tight first half the second couldn’t have been more different with Aston Clinton smashing 4 past Wanderers with no reply.
Wanderers best chance of the 2nd half fell again to Jordan Nash whos sliding effort was again saved by the keeper, Wanderers other notable attempt was a long range Calvin Budd effort.
At the other end it was nothing short of a horror show as Aston Clintons pace and movement was cutting through every time. Goals on 50 and 57 put Wanderers on the back foot but it was out of sight when Peter Weirich and Matty Tallyn scored on 77 and 86. The defeat puts and end to a promising start of 2010 for Wanderers. |
