| Match Report |
MK Wanderers’ Ladies 2nd XI have now completed their league fixtures for the 2007/2008 season.
Whilst the team personally in all areas of TIC, they were unfortunately unable to translate this into match wins. Despite this, there are statistical indications of the improvements that have been made, including a 25% decrease in the number of conceded goals (compared to the previous season).
A combination of factors has weighed against the team at times during the season. Several players were unable to cope and left, and the team suffered a series of (fortunately minor) injuries at inopportune times. Furthermore, before the season started, the Thames Valley League changed the divisional structure from geographical to tier-based and this invariably led to some ‘mis-matches’ in each of the 3 new divisions. Indeed many teams in the league that performed well in previous years have struggled this season.
Despite the unsettled circumstances, and with an average age of just 17, the players that stayed continually demonstrated strength of character that belies their age. They proved to themselves that they have the control and commitment to meet any challenge with confidence.
Our club’s motto is “wear the shirt with pride”, and the players did exactly that.
MK Wanderers is now looking for a new manager and head coach for the 2nd XI, to take them onto the next stage of their development. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a desire to work with a hard working, positive and fun-loving group of players. If you are keen to pass on your football knowledge, and help advance the growth of women’s football locally, then contact the club’s chairman Aitch White. Contact details can be found on the website. |
