Sunday 3rd October. 2008 Cranfield Colts 2 v 1 MK Wanderers
Man of the Match: Farris Masad League.
Well done to all the players, another fantastic game. Another good performance. I really felt a sense of pride to be part of this team today. With players short, today we played with only 10 players against 11 players + subs. Because every player gave something extra, you probably wouldn’t have noticed. We kept to the game plan and it was all square at half time. Showing such good composure, Sam scored our goal half way through the second half. We had several opportunities to make it 2 – 0, but it just was not to be. Cranfield Colts bought it all level on the 70th minute, what we thought was the stroke of full time. But, for reasons only known to the ref. We played another 4 minutes and in a game with very few free kicks, no injuries, and no treatment given on the field and no subs made by MKW. We found it difficult to comprehend. Cranfield Colts scored a very well taken goal in time added on, to clinch the win. I thought we deserved something out of a game where we showed such good qualities. Once again ‘well done’ to all the players.
Sunday 28th Sept. 2008 MK Wanderers (3) 4 v 3 (pens) (3) Gt. Linford
Man of the Match: Elliot Haynes Round 1 – County Cup.
What a fantastic Game! Thoroughly entertaining for all who watched. Constantly taken through the high and lows of all emotions. The feed back from the players and the Ref, I have to agree it was a pleasure to have taken part in a game that was played in such a good spirit.
1 – 1 at half time, 2 – 2 at the end of full time and 3 – 3 at the end of extra time. We were never behind and felt in control of the game, but Gt. Linford, showing great character, kept coming back. Every player played there best and with a fantastic goal from Matthew, and two goals from captain Tj, we still had to dig in and defend throughout. The only way to separate two good teams was with the penalty shoot out. On behalf of the team I would like to wish Gt. Linford the best of luck for the rest of the season. Well done to all the players, ‘ Keep up the good work’. |
Sunday 21st September 2008 MK Wanderers 4 v 0 Preston Gawcott
Man of the Match: Farris Masad League. Today was our first league game and our first home game at our new pitch. Again we got off to a slow and nervous start, and rode our luck, we could have been 2-0 down in the first ten minutes, but was fortunate to be 2-0 up at half time. The second half was a continuation of the first. We rode our luck, and took our chances. The pick of the bunch was an outstanding goal by Joe Skingsley; cutting in from the left wing passing his defender and firing across the keeper, nearly busting the back of the net. Birthday boy and Captain for the day, Sam Cox, really rose to the occasion. Scoring once in the first half and again in the second half, but the best move was when the rest of his team mates gave him the bumps at the end of the game! I would like to thank Preston & Gawcott for a good game. They showed a great attitude throughout, and where gracious in defeat. We wish them the best of luck for the rest of the season.
Sunday 14th September 2008 Newport Pagnell Tigers 1 v 3 MK Wanderers
Man of the Match: Kieron Mazzone Round 1 of the Citizen Cup. This was our first competitive game of the season. Nerves were high and I was anxious to see if our new players would add something to the team. They were fantastic. It took the first half for us to overcome that nervousness and the goal we had conceded. The second half we showed great composure and control. With three well taken goals from Keiron Mazzone, Tj Ageymang and Andrew Knell, we secured a well deserved place in the second round. |
